Non-urgent advice: Non-Urgent GP Appointments

GPs will now manage all non-urgent healthcare requests, for example any requests for routine appointments, clinical enquiries or sick notes, via online requests.

Other Appointments

If you have no internet access please contact the surgery by phone via 02392 377514.

To see a Nurse or Health Care Support Worker, you must make an appointment; this can be done by telephoning: 02392 377514.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor.

Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible for medical reasons. In this respect, if you do feel you need a home visit, you must call reception before 10:00.

Requests for home visits are assessed by GPs and you are likely to receive a ring-back. No guarantee is given that you will be visited at home, nor on the same day.

Only completely house-bound patients are eligible for a home visit

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to leave the house. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

Unfortunately we cannot visit because a patient has difficulties in arranging transport. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.

Cancellations and Reminders

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

To cancel you can phone – 02392 377514, text CANCEL to: 07800 000199, or cancel your internet-booked appointment using our Online Services.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time; if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments, to access this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

GP Extended Access Appointments

There are a wide range of appointments with doctors, nurses and HCSWs.

This service is run by clinicians from the Fareham Area, and is based in Fareham Community Hospital and Portchester Health Centre; there will be both routine and same day appointments available.

Westlands also has some pre-bookable appointments available on a Tuesday from 06:00am

For further information please follow this link to the Integrated Primary Care Access Service.

Your Local Pharmacist

Your local pharmacist will be able to give you free health advice at any time – you don’t need an appointment. Many pharmacies operate extended hours on a rota basis. Many medicines needed to treat common ailments can be bought in chemists and save you a trip to the surgery.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
