We are getting a large number of enquiries about accessing Mounjaro weight loss medication on the NHS.
It will not be available in Hampshire until at least the autumn.
Please do not contact us to request it as we are unable to prescribe Mounjaro for weight loss.
We cannot make any exceptions to this.
Please see Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB website for the latest information.
When it does become available, the eligibility criteria will be very strict: you must have a BMI of over 40 and four out of the five medical conditions:
– Type 2 diabetes
– Hypertension (consistently high blood pressure)
– Cardiovascular disease (heart attack, angina, stroke)
– Medically diagnosed obstructive sleep apnoea
– Dyslipidaemia (significant abnormality in the lipid blood tests)
Only around 1000 patients in the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight meet the criteria, and the drug will not be suitable for all of these. Please keep an eye on the website for updates and for other sources of support with weight loss. Any queries should be made directly to the ICB.
